Introduction

Emotional intelligence can be determined as the capability to be aware and to express emotions that one possess. Further, it also includes handling of interpersonal relationship empathetically and judiciously (Goleman, Boyatzis and McKee, 2013). There are different set of situations that an individuals face in their day to day activities. In order to handle them, it requires emotional intelligence so that situations can be handled. This report covers different elements of emotional intelligence.

Elements of own personal emotional intelligence

Below given elements of emotional intelligence are highly important. In this context, these are essential for me to develop and it will be done within 6 months time.

Self-awareness

This is an essential aspect in which one should know where they stand. There are different set of skills and capabilities that individuals possess. One should know what are those capabilities and skills so that at time of requirement it can be performed or used (Druskat, Mount and Sala, 2013). Further, it includes how one feels of themselves and I should always know that my actions and emotion can affect others. To be an effective leader it requires me to know strength and weaknesses and it also includes to behave with humanity. In order to develop this element, it requires me to keep journal as it helps to improve self-awareness. I will take time to write down my thoughts and this will help me to reach the highest degree of self-awareness. Another way to improve self-awareness is to get slow down at the time when I express anger other related strong emotions. It is important to slow down to examine why. This will helpful to know what the emptions that I carry and who the present condition needs to be handled.

Motivation

It is an essential element that enables to perform any type of activity with full efficiency and effectiveness. There are conditions in which one get discouraged or lack the willing to perform over the tasks that they are being trying for a while. It leads consistently towards the goals and is set. People who are motivated have high standards towards the work they perform. To be self motivated, it requires one to identify the positive points of the tasks or activity that one wants to perform. There are cases in which after a certain period of time one get to show out negative points more when compared with positive aspects. However, even at worse situation individual is able to find out positive aspect, then he/she is self-motivated. In order to develop this element, I will aim at identifying the positive point for the career that I want to take. Further, with time I will develop habit to identify the positive aspect for each of the tasks that is being performed by me.

Self-regulation

This can be determined as the ability to control emotions. In this context, it includes optimism, achievement, adaptability and transparency. Moreover, key factors is that whether one responds or reacts to situations. One should be able to given importance as per the activities that are being provided. In order to improve this element I will list out the values and will list out the areas in which I will not be compared. There are certain ethics that individuals carry and I will list out the values of the code of ethics. This will enable me to know what all are important for me and this will eliminate me to think twice for making decisions. Further, I will try to be calm for the situations that are challenging. I will try to develop habit of taking deep breathing exercise so that I get calm for the situations.

Empathy

In order to manage a team, it is critical to have empathy. When individuals have empathy, then it becomes helpful for them to understand the situation that is faced by others. It helps to bring up each individuals as team and also develop helping nature (Dong, Seo and Bartol, 2014). Further, one try to understand that areas in which others lack and accordingly, they are provided with feedbacks and ways through which the current situation can be handled. In addition to this, it also helps to develop empathic care among other members. In order to develop this element, I will aim at put myself in the position of others and try to take up the other situations as mine. By practising this, I will be able to develop empathy in me for others. Further, I will work on my body language. This is important as when an individual covey their situation and if my body language is proper, then other person will develop negative perception. Will work over my body language and make sure that I get fully involved on the situation that is being share by other.

Social skills

This is a skill that enables to be a great communicator. People with social skills are open hear bad or good things. They are mentally stable and are prepared to face any type of situation. They are excited to perform any type of activity and are boosted to support others. Further, these people are effective enough to manage change and also contribute in resolving conflicts. In order to improve I will go through book and case studies in order to understand the strategies that are implemented in order to overcome the problems. This way I will be able to understand that strategies that are used to sole the conflict situation. Further, I will improve my communication skills with the help of different online test available online and this way I will get to know where I stand. In addition to this, I will learn to appreciate other and this way others will get inspired and get motivated.

Conclusion

From this report, it can be articulated that all the skills that are included in emotional intelligence is highly important to develop strong relationship with others and for self development. Further, communication is an important skill that helps to develop trust and confidence among others and they share the problems and issues that are faced by them.
