Don’t be overly critical of yourself

If you are in the habit of criticizing everything that you do, then there are greater chances of failure. Several types of research have linked self-compassion to improved psychological well-being and enhanced motivation. Make sure that you give yourself the same advice that you’d give to a trusted friend of yours. Also, talk to yourself in the same way as you would do with others.

Recognize your emotions

Most people have a fear of sharing or showing their sentiments. Consequently, they get distanced from their emotions and it becomes hard for them to recognize how they are feeling at any moment. Every day, spend a few minutes acknowledging your emotional state. Be aware of your emotions and label them. You should know how these feelings are likely to affect your decisions. When you are worried about your academic life or feeling sad about any of your personal relationships, then it will surely get reflected in other areas of your life if you aren’t aware of them.

Balance your emotions with logic

You’ll be able to make your best decision when you are thinking rationally. Whenever you are running high on emotions, try to increase your logical thinking. The best way to do this is to create a list of the pros and cons of the options available to you and reading it over and over again. This will help you in eliminating some of the emotions out of your decision, and you will be able to choose the best.

Practice thanksgiving

Gratitude is often linked to happiness. Positive things in life need a little thank you note from your soul. Make a habit of writing at least two to three things daily in the morning or at bedtime, about which you feel grateful. It can be your family, friends, or anyone else imparting positivity to your life.
